We aim to provide a fun, flexible recreational schedule to balance the recovery work, which can be emotionally draining. Physical activity can include yoga, walking, biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. We are conveniently situated by a neighborhood field complex with tennis and basketball courts as well. Weekly group activities are geared toward teambuilding and fun are also attended by residents from both phases of our program allowing for connection to a larger group of women.
Healing through empowerment occurs when the residents are encouraged to step up and host a meditation or be a leader. We have found that encouraging them to step into their power and share their strength has been life-changing from this starting point. When they share something about which they are passionate, it inspires passion in the others and fosters confidence to do it again, creating a positive feedback loop to replace the old helplessness.
Cultivating spirituality is a main goal of our program and we offer daily meditation and discussion around this topic. Clinical and medical tests have shown that the healing powers of meditation and awareness directly affect the physical body in relation to the creation of new neuronal pathways. Meditation empowers people to quiet their mind and go within their bodies in order to gain a sense of awareness. As a result, people become enlightened to thoughts, ideas, and behaviors that were previously hidden. Through proper technique, these new discoveries can be integrated into people's minds and inner wisdom.
A telephone interview is required to determine of someone is ready for this level of support and if an attitude of willingness is present. Medication and financial details must be discussed as well. For more information,
